Dr. Melissa Tan is a passionate pediatric dentist with a strong focus on preventive care and the dental well-being of children. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 2009, during which her participation in dental mission trips to rural regions sparked her interest in children’s oral health. Following graduation, she gained valuable experience at Health Promotion Board and Tan Tock Seng Hospital Dental Clinics, treating patients across all age groups. Inspired to specialize, Dr. Tan pursued a Master’s in Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry) at Queen Mary University, London, under the MOH Dental Postgraduate Training Scholarship. Her training at the Royal London Hospital exposed her to diverse cases of pediatric dental diseases and trauma.

In 2015, Dr. Tan returned to Singapore and joined the Health Promotion Board’s School Dental Service, reshaping her clinical approach through public health and preventive initiatives. She also served as a visiting consultant at KKH Dental Clinic, providing care for children with medical and behavioral special needs. After eight years in the public sector, she joined Petite Smiles in 2023. Dr. Tan is an adjunct clinical lecturer for the postgraduate Paediatric Dentistry program at the National University of Singapore and is a member of the Society of Paediatric Dentistry (Singapore) and the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
