Emeritus Professor Prabhakaran Krishnan is an Emeritus Consultant in the Department of Paediatric Surgery at Khoo Teck Puat – National University Children’s Medical Institute, National University Hospital. He also serves as Emeritus Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. With decades of expertise in paediatric surgery, his clinical focus includes organ transplantation, paediatric hepatobiliary disorders, urology, and surgical oncology.
Prof. Prabhakaran trained in general and paediatric surgery at the National University of Singapore and received further specialization in paediatric surgery in Melbourne. He also trained in liver transplantation in Cambridge and Pittsburgh, pioneering liver transplantation in Singapore in 1990. He established the Department of Paediatric Surgery at NUH in 2001 and has led groundbreaking transplants in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Prof. Prabhakaran’s contributions to medical education and paediatric surgery were recognized with the National Outstanding Clinician Award in 2012.
