Adjunct Assistant Professor Alvin Chang is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Neonatology at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and a leader in healthcare quality, safety, and risk management. With a career dedicated to advancing neonatal care, Dr. Chang specializes in prematurity, neonatal conditions, newborn screening, and childhood vaccinations. His contributions to neonatal care include pioneering improvements to reduce chronic lung diseases in preterm infants and spearheading initiatives in neonatal resuscitation and transport, recognized both locally and internationally.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Chang is a passionate advocate for patient safety. He chairs KKH's Patient Safety and Risk Council, co-chairs the Hospital Quality and Patient Safety Standards committee, and contributes to Singapore's Ministry of Health's Ensure Safer System initiative. A prolific researcher and educator, he holds academic positions at Singapore’s leading medical schools and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on neonatal and patient safety topics. Dr. Chang is also certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics as a Neonatal Resuscitation Instructor.
