Prof James Hui is the Head and Senior Consultant of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the National University Hospital (NUH) and Alexandra Hospital. He also holds the position of Ling Chaw Ming Professor in Orthopaedics at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Prof Hui specializes in paediatric orthopaedics, focusing on musculoskeletal problems in children such as hip dysplasia, foot deformities, spinal deformities, and neuromuscular disorders like cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. He is also involved in general orthopaedics and sports medicine.

Prof Hui completed his medical degree at the National University of Singapore and underwent surgical and orthopaedic training at NUH. He further enhanced his expertise through a paediatric orthopaedic fellowship in Australia. Prof Hui is an active educator in both undergraduate and postgraduate settings and is involved in numerous professional societies, including the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association. His research interests include studies on gait analysis in cerebral palsy, bone growth, and the healing of articular cartilage defects using stem cells.
